Foundations in Creative Writing

Find your voice, expand your craft, and step into the writer’s life with confidence.

Overview

Foundations in Creative Writing is a small-group course (max 6 students) designed for young adults ready to explore fiction, poetry, and personal narrative. Each class adapts to the unique style of its writers, so sessions feel inspiring, experimental, and grounded in real creative growth.

Course Goals

  • Master the essentials of storytelling — character, setting, and plot.

  • Explore poetry and prose as tools for clarity, creativity, and voice.

  • Build a regular writing practice that feels joyful, not forced.

  • Gain confidence to share your words with others.

How Classes Work

  • Once a week, 90 minutes per session.

  • Rolling starts with year-round enrollment — no catch-up stress; one-on-one breakout time every session.

  • Materials: just a notebook and pen, though laptops/tablets are welcome.

  • Classes are live, interactive, and workshop-based — sessions are not recorded.

  • Community is core: peer feedback, group brainstorms, and collaborative exercises.

Who This Is For

  • Young adults (18–25) who want to develop their creative voice.

  • Writers seeking mentorship and a supportive, non-academic environment.
